Question: If you have a home based business how do you monitor your books must you hire accountant to oversee things?

And if you needed to hire another accountant where does the cycle end?If you are keeping your books yourself how do you become aware if you are shafting yourself? edit- must you hire an accountant to oversee things?

When you just start out you should be able to handle your own bookkeeping. Once a year have an accountant close the year out for you and prepare your taxes.

Have my own business now for 11 yrs. No one but me handles it. I am very organized....so I need not worry..as for shafting myself....that would not feel good! All I do is make damn sure I have a great tax person...and I also make sure I keep all my records of everything, even if just in a box, I know where all my papers are.

You dont need an accountant to overlook the books unless you wish to have one
