Get an office job, then ask them if they let you work from home

99.9 percent of data entry work at home programs are a scam. You don't buy a job & those that are free will make sure you get everything that's coming to them. Big companys do not advertise these position to the public as data entry. Here is where mentioned Affiliate programs comes into play & again if you have to pay to join ...wrong program. Refferals to someplace is a good way to explain what an affiliate program is.So you do the promoting ..that's the data entry part of it. Someone goes somewhere through the link that you provide. This can be done in different ways from having your own web site to articling at different places to just placing you link with a short blurb of what it's about (that your promoting ) in ad agencies or on forums...etc... Again here you are entering the data & this work is real. Best to you because it takes work and is not a get rich quick thing but, you do make money and the more you put into it the more you get. Hope this helps you.

Michel makes a good point, the number of true data entry jobs in these days of automation are few, that, along with envelope stuffing have to be favorites of scam artists. The term Work at Home has become tainted by all the fake offers out there, good paying online jobs for unskilled workers may be a fantasy, particularly in light of the world wide competition with low costs of living. Self employment is probably a better way to go, you might check out some freelance contractor sites like elance.com, odesk.com, allfreelance.com, getafreelancer.com and project4hire.com One of the less complicated freelance chores that doesn't require tech skills seems to be writing articles for web sites, which on average pay $4 for a 450 word made to order article.

If you can write well there are a number of genuine options for you. For freelance jobs elance and guru are good option, links for genuine data entry jobs and freelance opportunities can also be found. they are all free to sign-up and seems legitimate so far to me.
