Question: Best work at home job for single mom?
(Posted by: carlita on 2010-03-13 21:14:32)
I am a single mom who has a full time job working as an educator. ALthough the pay is good I am not able to get ahead and need a second employment to try to save money so I can try to buy a house. I am looking for a job that will not take me away from my children since I already work during the day. Something I could do over the internet or even with mykids would be great. Also, I live in montreal, so some suggestions might not be good for me if they are not available here. I would like to hear from other people who have actually made money from what they are about to suggest..there are a lot of scams out there and I dont want to waste time on something that isnt real... I also wanted to add that I am very creative and like to do pottery, mosiacs and different art forms...

I would suggest to be an online educator, basically teaching students that take online classes. I'm not sure exactly what grade or if you could teach college students, but these are mainly the type of students taking online classes. And if you're able to teach college students, I would ask Community colleges in your area if theres any openings. It might just work since you're comfortable with teaching already :) Hope it works out!

There are few freelancer websites were I have done webdesign/ web development jobs. But pay is really low especially if you are in USA but I don't know for your 'educator' skills you might find something. Best part of this is you can work in night when kids are sleeping etc... Try websites like Guru.com, freelancer.com, odesk.com, elance.com

Sounds to me like your plate is pretty full already but we do what we do. I sent my daughter to these 2 place's because their real. I'm not talking about buying something from the forum. I'm talking about the site programs the free ones but you need to qualify for like a transcription-est etc.. workathomedesk.com/ wahm.com/ Their business section is pretty good. Best to & good luck.

When searching for jobs online search for the term telecommute rather than "work at home ". You're more likely to find legit jobs. Those jobs are very hard to get though. You will have to apply for a lot of them and even if one does hire you it may be a long time before it happens. There are good home based business opportunities out there, but you will have to make an investment and there will be ongoing expenses. Long term they can be much more lucrative than a job, but if you need money now and want something guaranteed they won't work. If you are open to this type of work adult webcam performers are in high demand. It's quite possible that a performer can earn more part time than as a full time educator though. This type of work isn't for everyone though.

If you are very cautious and research some of the data entry jobs (because some are scams) you could bring in an extra $400-500 a week with very little work.
